Getting Started
How do I sign up for CouplesCash?
Both partners need to download the app and complete the signup process together. You'll each provide your personal information, verify your identity, and agree to open a joint account. The process takes about 5 minutes per person.
What do I need to get started?
You'll need a valid government-issued ID, Social Security Number or ITIN, a US address, and your partner's information. Both partners must be 18 or older and US residents.
How long does account approval take?
Most accounts are approved instantly after identity verification. In some cases, additional review may take 1-2 business days. You'll receive email updates on your application status.
When will I receive my debit cards?
Physical debit cards are mailed within 2-3 business days of account approval and typically arrive within 7-10 business days. You can add your card to Apple Pay or Google Pay immediately for contactless payments.
Account Management
How do I add money to my account?
You can fund your account through ACH bank transfers, direct deposit, mobile check deposit, or by transferring from other CouplesCash users. Bank transfers are free and typically complete within 1-3 business days.
Are there any fees?
CouplesCash has no monthly fees, no minimum balance requirements, and no overdraft fees. We may charge small fees for expedited services like rush card delivery or international transactions.
How do spending approvals work?
You can set custom approval thresholds for purchases. When one partner tries to spend above the limit, the other receives a notification to approve or decline. Small daily purchases typically don't require approval.
Can I change my approval settings?
Yes, both partners can adjust spending limits and approval requirements anytime in the app settings. Changes take effect immediately for new transactions.
Security
How secure is my money?
Your funds are FDIC insured up to $500,000 per couple through our banking partner, Evolve Bank & Trust. We use bank-level security, 256-bit encryption, and multi-factor authentication to protect your account.
What if I lose my phone or card?
You can immediately freeze your cards through the app, website, or by calling our support line. Lost cards can be replaced within 2-3 business days, or instantly if you need emergency access.
How do I report suspicious activity?
Contact us immediately at 1-888-COUPLES or through the app's secure messaging. We monitor transactions 24/7 and will freeze suspicious activity automatically, then contact you for verification.
Transactions
Where can I use my CouplesCash card?
Your Visa debit card works anywhere Visa is accepted - in stores, online, at ATMs, and internationally. There are over 55,000 fee-free ATMs in the Allpoint network across the US.
How do I find fee-free ATMs?
Use the ATM locator in the app to find nearby Allpoint network ATMs. Most major grocery stores, pharmacies, and retail locations have fee-free ATMs available.
Why was my transaction declined?
Transactions may be declined due to insufficient funds, security holds, spending limits, or merchant issues. Check your balance and approval settings, then contact support if the problem persists.
Joint Account Features
Can both partners see all transactions?
Yes, both partners have complete visibility into all account activity, including transactions, balances, and savings goals. This transparency is a core feature of joint financial management.
How do savings goals work?
Create shared savings goals for vacations, emergency funds, or major purchases. Set target amounts and dates, then track progress together. You can set up automatic transfers to reach goals faster.
What if my partner and I disagree on a purchase?
CouplesCash provides the tools for financial communication, but relationship decisions are between you and your partner. Consider using spending categories and approval limits to prevent conflicts.
Troubleshooting
The app isn't working properly. What should I do?
First, try closing and reopening the app, or restart your device. Check for app updates in your device's app store. If issues persist, contact support with details about the problem and your device type.
I forgot my login information. How do I reset it?
Use the "Forgot Password" link on the login screen to reset your password via email. For other login issues, contact support with your registered email address for assistance.
How do I close my account?
Both partners must agree to close a joint account. Contact support to initiate the closure process. Ensure your balance is zero and all pending transactions are complete before closing.
